While the Albertian window, traced on the surface of the painting, is ‘open to the world’ and allows the passing of light (and therefore vision) and circulation between inside and outside, Batniji’s ‘blind’ window, leaning against a wall like Andre Cadere’s baton, relates to mobility. We do not look through it at the horizon, we take it with us wherever we go, and the sky as well. (text by Sophie Jaulmes)
