Absence, 1998
Following on from painted works like Undefined, Traces and Traces #2, Absence is an installation/memorial comprising a column of 24 ‘implicit’ portraits underscored by adhesive tape torn away. On the floor below it, a stone step interrogates the image, its frame (its outlines) and its contents, through an absent suggestion: trace, emptiness. Memory for Forgetfulness.
